A Simple Guide on How to Clean & Maintain Your Carpeted Stairs

Carpeted stairs are a favorite choice of many homeowners because they are comfortable to their feet. Having carpet on your stairs also means your stairs are safe from getting scratches though they are prone to get stains and bad odor.

Stair cleaning is not an easy process since it needs you to pay extra attention to the materials they are made of to avoid any sort of damage.  With carpeted stairs, on the other hand, it becomes more difficult to have a proper cleaning of the area. They need careful cleaning and washing to look great and attractive.

Pick the Trash

Do not forget to collect large and hard pieces of trash from the stairs so they do not hinder or break the next steps when you vacuum cleaning on your stairs.

Use Baking Soda

Carpets are vulnerable to bad smells, especially on stairs due to regular movement. Sprinkle baking soda evenly on your carpeted stairs and wait for half an hour. You will be surprised to see how this small ingredient will absorb all sorts of odors, giving you an entirely fresh feel for your carpeted area.

Use Talcum Powder

Nobody likes their stairs making weird sounds while using them to get up or down. Sprinkling talcum powder at the end of the seams can help you get rid of that unpleasant sound and get smooth feelings when baring feet on your stairs. You can also use powdered graphite for the same.
Taking care of carpeted stairs is essential to keep them look good, orderly, and functioning. Make sure you keep rotating your stair carpets from time to time since it will help distribute the pressure put on them. Also, this will prevent the stains on the carpet from wearing out more quickly than others.
